Coalfield Community Transport has eight minibuses available for bookings:

  • A VW Caravelle with 7 passenger seats
  • Four 16 seater minibuses (2 are fully accessible)
  • 15 seat minibus (fully accessible)
  • Two Optare Alero’s with 16 passenger seats

The Alero is a low floor vehicle that allows easy walk-on access for people who have walking difficulties or need the use of a wheelchair. All of the seats are removable and the minibus can accommodate up to 5 passengers who wish to travel in their wheelchair; our other accessible vehicles have either a tail lift or ramp access.

Group Transport

Community and voluntary groups in the Coalfield area can use our services to travel to meetings, for social and recreational outings and for trips to the theatre, shopping and places of interest. Volunteer drivers give their time freely to drive on behalf of member groups.

Minibuses are available 363 days a year.

Dayhopper Club

Launched in 2003 the Dayhopper service provides a shopping and excursion service to individuals in receipt of benefit, older or unemployed people, lone parents and people with a disability or are geographically disadvantaged.

Day trips are available 7 days a week and our schedule of trips is published quarterly.

Awayhopper Service

Members of the Dayhopper Club can also book for the Awayhopper service. The Awayhopper was introduced in March 2005 follwoing consultation with Dayhopper Members. Five times a year we offer members the opportunity to take a short break, from 1 - 3 night away.

Wheels2Work

A scooter loan service introduced in April 2004 to assist young people aged 16+ to gain access to work, training or education. The project has 20 scooters that can be loaned for
6-9 months. Full training is given along with protective clothing. Participants contribute £2.50 a week.

Early Years Service

This new service was introduced in March 2006 with funding from East Ayrshire Community Planning Partnership. We transport children on the At Risk register, or are referred by psychological services, between home and Netherthird nursery and family centre.
